GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

Run by state or territory governments, these schools typically require minimal tuition fees for local Australian students. International students, along with their children, are expected to pay fees. They embrace a range of social and cultural philosophies.

NON-GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS

Independently managed and not owned by any state or territory government, these schools generally charge international students higher fees than their domestic counterparts. They often adhere to specific religious or cultural philosophies, which are distinctly woven into the student experience.

UNIVERSITY EDUCATION

Australia hosts 43 universities, with Bond and Notre Dame as the only private ones. Additionally, Carnegie Mellon and University College London operate campuses in Adelaide, South Australia. Since their main campuses and administration are based in Pennsylvania, USA, and London, UK, respectively, these are considered non-Australian universities.

Many Australian universities maintain overseas branch campuses, participate in twinning arrangements, and offer exchange programs for students and faculty globally. They have approximately 7,000 agreements with universities and similar institutions worldwide.

Australian universities primarily focus on three core roles:

  1. Preserving knowledge
  2. Sharing knowledge with others
  3. Generating new knowledge
